Hair loss minoxidil treatments may help combat baldness

Hair loss minoxidil drugs have been developed to help slow down or prevent baldness.  Minoxidil is the result of hair loss breakthrough research, and can be used by both men and women to reduce the signs of thinning hair.  Reasons for losing excessive amounts of hairs vary between individuals, and it’s advisable to seek a professional opinion on the best hair loss treatment in a particular case.  Male pattern baldness is a the most common cause of losing hair in men, and is a genetic trait that’s inherited.

Going bald is characterized by thinning hairs and a receding hairline, which if untreated can result in a visible bald patch on top of the head.  The hair loss drug minoxidil works to improve the cosmetic appearance of the hair, by artificially stimulating growth.  Because minoxidil doesn’t actually treat the causes of baldness, it is often used in conjunction with another type of drug, finasterine.  This hair loss solution aims to balance out levels of the hormone DHT, an excess of which is known to cause thinning and shorter hairs.

Minoxidil can be applied to the scalp as a shampoo for thinning hair.  It can take several months for any effect to become apparent.  Many people try to disguise signs of hair loss by changing their hairstyle or by wearing a wig or hairpiece.  There are also natural hair care products and treatments that might have some benefits in combating the symptoms of hair loss, such as saw palmetto oil.  If you’ve noticed you’re losing more hair than you’d like, then it may be worth looking into minoxidil or other products that help with thinning hair.
